UK Apache and DJ Phantasy Concrete Jungle (Tigerstyle Remix)

UK Apache / nuttah Beats

Click on the picture to go to the official artist site

This is the latest offering from UK Apache and its a hip hop track! If you have heard Tigerstyles remix of Raghav's Angel Eyes, this has the same feel to it. Tigerstyles remix skills have beefed this track up, with ethnic flutes and tablas along with Ragga tempos. making sure UK Apache is still loud in the Jungle. We have the rapping skills of both UK Apache and Wu Tang Camps Eslam (click on his name for his my space site) and a set of female vocals on the chorus from Shardia. Eslam is from a rising Islam rap scene, his my space link will take you to a Palestinian, Beirut and islamic rappers, don't know what they are saying, but they sound angry! A Drum n Bass mix of this track is to be released which has not been heard yet.

D Boy first remixed Sharifas 'My Love', he has now come back with the female rapper Baby Blue. With her hard female raps: It starts off with a bollywood sample which is listed in our bollywood sampler here and follows on with Baby Blues story of her dream man, reminds us of the likes of Lil Kim and Foxy Brown with a London twang. Check it either at our myspace page in the July update or at his myspace page for the whole track.
One Signata Natch Desi Nation Download For Free!

One Signata Nach

Due to difficulties with his record label One Signata Nach has decided to release his album for free! from his web site. The track Fighting Elephants was being played on Bobby Friction and Nihal in november 2005, which was a high speed instrumental break to the album. The album has the man rapping like the D.O.C. from Dr Dre's NWA camp. The music production is well done very well here, highlights of the album are many: Woh Chali Chali which starts off at a Ragga tempo and speeds up to a Drum n Bass speed, splicing punjabi raps, Gregorian chants and tribal drums, its fresh and different which always goes down well with the bopadum. Ganga is another Drum n Bass affair which works well for One Signata Nach's voice, where he raps in Hindi (?) (I am embarrassed to say we are not sure what language this is in!). All-in-All we love the beats but are not keen on the voice, though the lyrics are well rapped, they need to get another rapper which doesn't sit right with the beats. but why take my word for it - go to the site and download the whole album!
Ras Celyon The College Graduate

Ras Celyon

Ras comes from 'the land of the lions controlled by the tigers', he had an album out in July 2004, but two tracks are making a resurgence on the asian scene: Decolonoize and My Island. The man has conscious lyrics and beats that used to be like in the days of conscious rap, think KRS One, De La Soul, Jungle Brothers etc. Decolonize has nice hard Dolki with a flowing Bansari, My Island (download at the myspace) has a Bansari but also has a Bhangra style flute and Tabla beats. This is excellent rap, not as commercial as 911 blues, I am sure MIA is a fan of this guy. If these tracks are anything to go buy Ras Celyon will be kicking it next year as he has two new projects coming out. Recognized by KRS One, Common, Talib Kweli... watch out for this guy.

'Light up a phat one and pass it around, lay back, hypnotize by the funky sound!' (LL Cool J), that's what this track reminds us of! dream scape Bollywood sample all the way through... just add some hash and hookah and your there! we have not worked out what the bollywood sample is yet! It reminds us of Boards of Canada style of 'slip in to something more comfortable'. The bass line is nice and big yet minimal. Indian Ropemans new album should be excellent if that last two tracks are anything to go by. Check out his micro site here. Click on the logo to go to his my space site.
DJ V (Glam. Ents.)  P Word

DJ V Glamour Entertainment

Yardcore beats! The track starts of with a techno stab that you know is just going to go all Drum n Bass on your ass. With the loop of the word Asian and the title of the track P Word, this is going to be a political track. Spliced in with Bradford riot news reports. The bass creeps in and the beats rip the roof of the mutha fucka! we love this style of Drum n Bass, crashing symbols, a police siren in sync with the beat! DJ V... give us more! DJ V also goes under the name of Glamour Entertainmentand has produced tracks under this alias proving his competence as an all round music producer... his album will be worth waiting for....
Mo Magic Sirens/Payback/Folk Song

Mo Magic also has a Myspace site.

A welcome return by Mo Magic. We thought he was loosing it a bit with his last two releases - Mo Magic is known as a pioneer for asian Drum n Bass via mainly outcaste records - which is exactly what he does here: Sirens is a flute frenzied bass heavy killer, from the first bar you know this is gonna rock the scene. Payback has an excellent warping bass and chopped up female vocals and middle eastern influences. Both of these tracks would test the weight in any Drum n Bass DJ Set. You Like the Nasha? meet the original old skool man. Folk Song has ADFs Spex MC and Sonia Metha provide the vocals, not as hard as the other two tracks but an excellent attempt at jump style that Sonik Guru also had with tracks like Yadeein and Gypsy. All three tracks prove Sirens os gonna be an album worth waiting for ...
